Article Snippet: Following the ISO/TS 13136:2012 method (ISO, 2012) each sponge was put into a sterile bag containing 90 ml of modified Tryptone Soya Broth (mTSB; Oxoid) added with novobiocin (Oxoid), homogenised in a stomacher blender for 2 min and incubated at 37 ◦C ± 1 ◦C for 18 to 24 h. After enrichment, a Real-Time PCR was conducted as described in the ISO method using the iQ-Check STEC VirX kit (Biorad, Hercules, CA, USA).
